We all know Beyoncé as a massive super star that has plenty of hits. Her polished performances pay off every time she performs. This year, Beyoncé played at the half time super bowl show and gave a very political performance based on black rights.

Beyoncé’s dancers were made to look like stereotypical black people with their afro hairstyles and black berets. They all punched their fists in the air which was drawn towards the right handed black power salute. This made me think, what gives her the right to show this symbol on national television?

Because Beyoncé is such a huge star and she has many fans, most of her audience would feel ok with it due to them liking Beyoncé so much, that they don’t see the full racist attention she is drawing on.

Many people complained about this as it was Americas biggest family event of the year to watch on T.V and live. People are complaining saying it was ‘inappropriate’ and it was a sense of ‘hijacking’. Others are saying it was a publicity stunt for her new single that was released a day before she performed this. The music video to this song (Formation) also highlights white racism in U.S. history. Racism is clearly shown in this video when a wall is shown graffiti reading 'Stop shooting us'.

I feel as if she is drawing attention to black rights because she knows people will hear her out due to her being a big star, but does individualizing black rights mean she is being racist towards another race?

By saying one specific race, she is creating racism by individualizing by color.
